My Elevator Pitch
Hello Everyone! Welcome to my first post. Thankful to be here on this Thanksgiving Day!

My name is Andrew Bishay. I am an Egyptian American living in Michigan. My parents immigrated in the 70’s, so I am part of the first American born generation.
I decided to start creating content on Medium as I’m one of those who feels like they kinda have a voice based on experience that can add a lot of value to folks, and it seems that now is the time to start building your “personal brand.” Why not ride the wave?
Education — I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, and also got my MBA from Michigan Ross. I am currently wrapping up a second Master’s in Theological Studies from St. Cyril’s Coptic Orthodox Theological College in Syndey Australia — I love learning.
Professionally — Worked as an engineer for about 5 years, in product development, qualilty and operations (I actually used to wrk on a dredge…look it up). Post MBA, I worked in management consutling at two top firms — Oliver Wyman and McKinsey & Company. Currently run a Marketing Swag business (www.betterswag.co), and also coach part-time for McKinsey & Company candidates. Considering becoming a certified coach. I’m also in the process of launching social impact clothing line (stay tuned! instagrram — @niceclothingusa)
Personally — I am a devout Orthodox Christian, serve on my Parish’s Council and am invovled in various activities (deaconship, hymns teacher). I love the apect of Christian leadership and as part of my theological studies I am researching leadership in late antiquity and how it applies to modern day. One day I hope to write a book about it, and currently am exploring ideas/topics with a social media account (instagram and facebook): @ancientleadership.
Likes (to name a few) : travel (have been to 28 or so countries), reading, cooking, try new food, dance, camp/be outdoors (anything @puremichigan related), bon fires, coffee/tea, haribo gummy bears, and vanilla soft serve.
Lastly, I am a patient advocate for my mother, who unfortunately has metstatic breast cancer. I help manage her complex care. You may not be aware of the term “patient advocate” (or healthcare advisors) but I have become very familiar with their life saving value, and plan to write about my experience with the hopes that I can a) spread more awareness of the service, and b) give helpful tips for anyone else helping with their parents’ care.
My Why — I’m still working on iterating on my “why” but I do have a pretty good sense of it at the moment, and that is to simply love one another and always build people up. Each interaction you have with someone is opportunity to impact someone’s life positively — seize it!
There’s more but I shall save the bore. Given all this, my goal is to frame my topics around the following 4 topics:
- Patient Advocacy (or Healthcare Advisory)
- Management/Leadership (w/ sometimes a Christian perspective)
- Case Interview / Career Tips
- Experiential life advice
Stay tuned as I publish! Your feedback is very welcome, and I am glad to be a part of this super cool community!
With love,
AB
